On Saturday, August 24th, the men of Sorrowful Mother Catholic Church came together for the Holy Name Men's Society Meet and Greet. The event was filled with camaraderie as attendees enjoyed games and shared a meal. It provided a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and strengthened the bonds within the church community.
On August 2, 2024, parishioners who devoured all the readings for the Bible Bites Summer Reading Program gathered together at St. Cecilia for a pizza party that was nothing short of a slice of heaven. We shared pizza and played games of Bible Bites Jeopardy and Bible Bites Bingo. For the main event- Fr. Many people attended the 12:15pm Mass on June 23, 2024 Mass at the Fair Oaks Park in Fair Oaks, IN. A food distribution sponsored by the St. Cecilia Hispanic Ministry was also held at the park after Mass. Thank you to everyone who attended the Mass and assisted with the food drive.
Many thanks to the men of the Sorrowful Mother Holy Name Men's Sodality and all the dedicated volunteers! On Saturday, June 8th everyone worked together to clean and organize the shed and do much-needed yardwork around the church and rectory. Thank you so much to everyone who helped!

On the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ- Corpus Christi, Sunday, June 2, 2024, Father Mike and Deacon Joe led parishioners in a Eucharistic Procession from St. Cecilia to Freedom Park. The people gathered in adoration of the Blessed Sacrament under the picnic shelter and then returned to St. Cecilia ahead of the 12:15pm Spanish Mass.
For her extensive volunteer work, particularly with the Sorrowful Mother Food Pantry, Linda Duttlinger was chosen by public nomination as the 2024 Citizen of the Year and will be the Grand Marshal for the Touch of Dutch Parade on Sat, Aug 10. Our community is blessed by Linda’s years of service!
After the 8 AM Mass on Sunday, May 12, the Men of Sorrowful Mother Holy Name Men's Sodality served a delightful breakfast to mothers and families from across the Pastorate. In addition, three mothers were surprised with beautiful flower baskets. Many thanks to the men of the Holy Name Sodality for organizing this wonderful event and making the mothers of the Pastorate feel so appreciated!
This April, ten children received their first Communion at St. Cecilia. As they continue on their faith journey, let us hold them in prayer, that they may grow in faith and inspire others with their devotion.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for the Wine and Canvas event hosted by the Altar Rosary Sodality at Sorrowful Mother on April 12th! You truly made the canvas come alive with creativity and joy. Let's keep the creativity flowing and the canvases brimming with color until we meet again!
On Holy Saturday, March 30, 2024, Parishioners from across the North Newton Jasper Pastorate gathered at the parishes of Sorrowful Mother, St. Augusta, and St. Cecilia to observe the tradition of blessing Easter foods.
Thank you to the St. Cecilia Ladies Sodality and all the volunteers who made this event possible, from organizing fun games to ensuring everything ran smoothly. A big thank you as well to everyone who brought dishes to share and joined in the fun and fellowship!
On March 15, 2024 volunteers from across the Pastorate converged to help make the fish fry a huge success. A special shoutout to the men of the Sorrowful Mother Holy Name who masterfully fried the fish, the ladies of the Altar Rosary Sodality who generously donated desserts, and everyone who volunteered or came out to enjoy a meal!
The first of hopefully many Pastorate Family Game Days was a hit with loads of laughter, food, and fellowship. Thank you to the volunteers for their help and especially to everyone who joined in the fun! Let's keep the good times rolling with more fantastic events in the future!
On Saturday, December 23rd, 2023, Jennifer Builta received the sacraments of Confirmation and First Communion at St. Cecilia. Congratulations to Jennifer on this significant milestone in her faith journey!

This Declaration considers several questions that have come to this Dicastery in recent years. In preparing the document, the Dicastery, as is its practice, consulted experts, undertook a careful drafting process, and discussed the text in the Congresso of the Doctrinal Section of the Dicastery. During that time, the document was discussed with the Holy Father. Finally, the text of the Declaration was submitted to the Holy Father for his review, and he approved it with his signature.
